Rodney Williams was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and lived there until age 21, when he left to begin his career after graduating from Emory University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics/Economics. He spent the next 14 years working in the health care actuarial field, with organizations that included the largest health insurer in the country and the third largest employee benefits consulting firm. After a 6-month course of study at the Los Angeles Culinary Institute in1997—a venture he took on at night solely as a means of exploring his creative side—Rodney decided that while he was very good at crunching numbers, his true passions were decidedly more right-brain in nature. Fast-forward roughly six years, when Rodney (& Ian) finally fulfilled their dream of owning a Bed & Breakfast in a small town surrounded by nature. When he's not taking care of the food, marketing, book-keeping, decorating, and other duties at the Strawberry Creek Inn, Rodney also enjoys a variety of hobbies, including genealogy, geocaching, writing (including a recently published cookbook—Memorable Mornings from the Strawberry Creek Inn), and all things culinary.

Recent Writing from Rodney:

My Love Affair with Popcorn (One for the Table)

Does Your Cell Phone Believe in Ghosts? (One for the Table)

Ian Scott was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad, and moved to the United States at the age of six (he has dual citizenship). After growing up in New York state and the Washington, DC area he decided to move to Los Angeles after completing his nursing degree. He enjoyed years of patient care as a pediatric RN, but found himself less and less able to distance himself from the reality of the often very ill kids for whom he cared (chemotherapy was one of his areas of expertise). Just about the time when he was looking for his next step in life, he met Rodney and was introduced to the dream they both ultimately fulfilled in 2004 as owners of the Strawberry Creek Inn in Idyllwild. Ian still works part time as a phone-based pediatric advice nurse, and aside from his hosting and maintenance duties at the Inn he also enjoys science fiction, animal/insect husbandry, sports, art, and music.

Ian is currently a student in the UC Riverside County Master Gardener Program.

Rodney and Ian live and work at the Strawberry Creek Inn, and also own the StrawberryCreek Bunkhouse, in Idyllwild, California, with their 4 small dogs, 1 to 2 semi-feral cats, bees, chickens, and various other animals and insects Ian is known for taking in. Together they enjoy travel, hiking, farming, and discussing their varied interests with guests over gourmet breakfasts.
