March 20-23, 2016
Invest in yourself and your craft, and renew your creative spirit in this special Idyllwild Arts Spring Writers Retreat at the Strawberry Creek Inn.
Powerful stories call not only for an exploration of memory and imagination, but also the ability to dig deep and hover patiently. Whether you are writing fiction or memoir, explore how you can use complex layering of memory, imagination, the writer’s truth, history, and discovery to bring out what matters to you.
Samantha Dunn and Amy Friedman, masters of writing and teaching, will lead daily large- and small-group sessions giving you the chance to work closely with both instructors.
Samantha and Amy will cover genre, structure, and theme. In addition to in-class exercises, you will workshop both writing you bring and pieces created in class. Learn to develop or hone your habits and strategies to maintain a writing practice.
You will leave with new tools and a plan to keep you writing once you leave the mountain.
Skill Level: Suitable for both new and experienced writers.
Materials: Handouts provided by instructors prior to workshop
Enrollment limited to 14
Tuition: $490, includes 5 workshop sessions, breakfast and lunch at the Strawberry Creek Inn (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday), receptions, daily snacks, handouts.
